I’m glad I started with the biggest thing first – my as-yet-unnamed “lovely chicken lady” sweater is off the needles! The pattern has been written and is being edited as I type :) It’s a good feeling.

So now my thoughts are moving to the other bits of my outfit. If you listened to my recent podcast you’ll have heard of my plans for a hat and wrap to match-but-not-match and I’ve been mulling over what those accessories might look like. I think I’ve got at least the hat sussed and I’m already swatching and counting stitches.

Try as I may, I can’t resist a slightly slouchy feminine hat. This’ll be another version of my favourite shape although I’m planning to knit it from the top – so that’s a change!

I have to say, I’m in love with all of the yarn I’ve used so far. The Skeinz organic merino/alpaca is the most beautiful creamy colour and it’s sublimely soft to knit and wear. It just oozes relaxation.

The Road to China Light is equally as divine although on the more expensive end of the spectrum. But, I’m not surprised – the incredible blend of Baby Alpaca/Cashmere/Camel and silk is rather luxurious! I think a small hat is the perfect way to use super special skeins – you get to show it off, it rarely needs washing and only uses a splash of yarn. I’ve chosen the elusive Carnelian colourway. I can hardly describe it, except to say it’s so delicious it makes my mouth water …

It’s school holidays and you know what that means? Real, noisy, messy life all day long ;) Cross your fingers that I’ll find a moment of peace and quiet to get something on paper so I can cast my delicious little hat on …
